BeachCult was born from a love of sun-drenched days, faraway coastlines, and the effortless confidence that comes from dressing for summer.
Founded in Cape Town by designer Joanna Hedley in 2011, BeachCult creates elevated swimwear and resort wear designed to move effortlessly from beach to bar, long lunches to sunset dinners, and every adventure in between. Defined by bold silhouettes, exclusive artist-designed prints, and timeless wardrobe staples, each collection captures the spirit of endless summer through a distinctly South African lens.

The Designer
Meet Joanna Hedley
BeachCult began in 2011 when founder and Creative Director Joanna Hedley recognised a gap for elevated, locally designed resort wear in South Africa.
Following the brand's early success, Joanna expanded her perspective by completing an MBA specialising in Fashion and Luxury Business between Paris and Shanghai. Returning home with a renewed vision, she relaunched BeachCult with a focus on premium swimwear, thoughtful design, and creating a distinctly South African luxury brand.
Today, Joanna continues to lead the creative direction of BeachCult, drawing inspiration from her travels, nature, art, and the quiet beauty found in everyday moments. Her philosophy has always remained the same: create timeless collections that celebrate craftsmanship, creativity, and a slower, more considered way of living.
