BeachCultBeachCult

Tucked away in a sunlit corner of Cape Town, our Atelier is where every BeachCult piece begins its journey. Sun streams through the window, illuminating rails of flowing silhouettes and fabrics waiting to become something beautiful.

Fabric rolls lean against the walls, rails with patterns hang in progress, and sketches quietly evolve into garments. The quiet hum of sewing machines and scissors gliding through cloth fills the room. It’s a calm, creative space where ideas and inspiration move slowly from concept to cloth.

BeachCult is proudly designed and produced in South Africa. With in-house seamstresses and close partnerships with local CMT’s, every piece is developed with care and collaboration. Rooted in the creative energy of Cape Town, we celebrate local craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

And each piece begins here - cut, sewn and refined in the BeachCult Atelier.

Why Local Production Matters

Behind every BeachCult piece is a team of skilled local artisans who help bring each collection to life - from pattern cutters to seamstresses - ensuring each piece reflects the care, quality, and intention behind the brand.

By keeping production close to home, we are able to build meaningful relationships with the people who make our pieces, collaborating closely throughout the process.

It also supports our small-batch and pre-order model. By producing in smaller quantities, we reduce unnecessary waste while giving each garment the attention it deserves. Our shorter supply chains also lessen environmental impact and help support the local creative economy.

It’s an approach we’re deeply proud of - one that keeps the spirit of local fashion alive.

The Journey of a BeachCult Garment

Every BeachCult piece begins with an idea. Often inspired by our founder Jo’s sun-drenched travels, she gathers references along the way - colours seen along a coastline, fabrics discovered in markets, or textures that move beautifully in the breeze.

Back in the studio, these moments evolve into the first sketches. Patterns are then developed and the first samples are created, often using waste from previous seasons.

Fittings play an essential part of the process. Each design is tested for movement and fit, ensuring it feels as effortless to wear as it looks. Our fabric selection is equally intentional, with emphasis on high-quality materials and thoughtful cutting to minimise waste wherever possible.

Once the design and fabric is perfected, it moves into small-scale production, where our skilled in-house seamstresses or local CMT’s craft each piece that you will cherish for seasons beyond.

The Atelier Rhythm

Life inside the atelier moves in a quiet creative rhythm. Some days are filled with fittings, as new samples are tested and refined. Other moments are slower - selecting fabrics, reviewing colour palettes, or arranging rails of garments that hint at upcoming collections.

Moodboards line the walls, capturing the inspiration behind each collection - ocean textures, sun-washed landscapes, and the beauty of coastal living. Nearby, new samples hang alongside beloved icons of the past, reminding us of our ever evolving journey.

There’s also an intimacy that comes with working in a small studio. Conversations unfold around cutting tables, ideas develop naturally, and laughter fills the space as we bring each collection to life.

No two days are the same, but the atmosphere remains the same - calm, collaborative, and deeply creative.

Designing for Sun-Drenched Lives

Every BeachCult piece is designed with real moments in mind - the rhythm of travel, beach days, warm climates, and long evenings by the sea. Inspired by free-spirited women who carry the ocean in their hearts, our resortwear is created to feel wild, bold, and free.

We also believe in designing pieces that live beyond a single season. Our Cult Classics, including the Ibiza, Aquarius, and Calypso dresses alongside our Palazzo Pants and Boyfriend Shirts, form the foundation of a lasting wardrobe.

Our carefully curated palette of core tones - black, oyster, and emerald - creates a balanced, timeless base for the collection. These colours ensure that each silhouette remains relevant year after year, while prints, textures, and seasonal colours continue to evolve around them.

This approach ensures every piece can live in a woman’s wardrobe for years, reflecting travel, freedom, and slow summer living.

Why Slow Fashion Matters to Us

At its heart, BeachCult believes in designing with intention. Rather than producing endless collections with once-off silhouettes and colours, our focus remains on pieces that feel timeless and meaningful.

By producing locally and in small batches, we create garments that are meant to be worn, loved, and travelled with for years to come.

Each piece carries the story of the hands that made it, the place it was created, and the women who wear it.

And every story begins here - in a sunlit atelier in Cape Town.
